Here is how we check the people you hire, and what a check can and cannot do.

Look for this label on a HappyTasker. It shows who is background checked.

Some HappyTaskers are background checked and some are not. A label shows who is. Our staff reads each listing before it goes live.

What to look for

  • The Background Checked label

    Some HappyTaskers show the Background Checked label. It means our staff looked at their check. Not all of them show it.

  • Who can join

    Some past crimes keep a person from joining. That includes any felony and being on a sex offender list. The Terms of Use have the full list.

  • A check by Stripe

    Stripe may check who a HappyTasker is before they get paid.

How we check

  1. A background check

    Some services need a background check before a person takes tasks. A company named backgroundchecks.com runs it. It asks for their OK first.

  2. We read the result

    If something may stop us from approving someone, we tell them first. We send a notice and a copy of the report. They have at least 5 business days to say if it is wrong.

  3. We read each listing

    Our staff reads each HappyTasker listing before it goes live. They may ask for changes first.

Questions

Is every HappyTasker background checked?
No. Some are and some are not. Look for the Background Checked label on a HappyTasker's page. It means our staff looked at that person's check.
Who runs the background check?
A company named backgroundchecks.com runs it. It asks the HappyTasker for their OK before the check runs.
What does the Background Checked label mean?
It means our staff looked at that person's check. Not all show the label.
Do you check clients?
No. We do not run background checks on clients.
Can a background check promise a good task?
No. A check is a snapshot. It cannot promise how someone will act. Use good sense and stay safe.
What if something goes wrong on a task?
Tell us right away. We will help you and your HappyTasker work it out. You can stop a task at any time. You pay only for the time so far, with a one-hour minimum.
Are the reviews real?
Reviews come from real tasks. After a task, the client and the HappyTasker can each leave one. No one may pay for or write a fake review. Some reviews come from sites like Google. Each one shows where it came from.
