How we check HappyTaskers

Here is how we check the people you hire, and what a check can and cannot do.

Some HappyTaskers are background checked and some are not. A label shows who is. Our staff reads each listing before it goes live.

What we check

  • A background check Some services need a background check before a person takes tasks. A company named backgroundchecks.com runs it. It asks for their OK first.
  • We read the result If something may stop us from approving someone, we tell them first. We send a notice and a copy of the report. They have at least 5 business days to say if it is wrong.
  • We read each listing Our staff reads each HappyTasker listing before it goes live. They may ask for changes first.
  • The Background Checked label Some HappyTaskers show the Background Checked label. It means our staff looked at their check. Not all of them show it.
  • Who can join Some past crimes keep a person from joining. That includes any felony and being on a sex offender list. The Terms of Use have the full list.
  • A check by Stripe Stripe may check who a HappyTasker is before they get paid.

What a check cannot do

A background check is a snapshot. It cannot promise how someone will act. Some checks only look at felony records and the sex offender list. We do not run background checks on clients. Use good sense and stay safe. See the Terms of Use for the full rules.
